NEW DELHI, December 24: A special meeting of the working committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), to be held here on December 30, will consider the New Zealand Cricket Board’s request for a visit by its cricketers to India during October 1 to November 30 next year to play three Test matches and six one-day internationals.

The meeting is likely to finalise the itinerary of the Pakistan team in India for two Test matches and a triangular series, involving India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Delhi is likely to be a venue for either of the two Test matches. It will also approve the participation of the Indian team in the Asian Test Championship, proposed by the Asian Cricket Council and will approve the budget of the Pakistan team in India for Test matches and triangular series as well as the Asian Test Championship.

The tour by Pakistan for Test matches and the triangular series will be subject to approval by the Indian government and ratification by the executive committee of the BCCI.

The December 30 meeting will also approve the budget of the Indian team’s tour to Sharjah in April next year and the budget of the Indian team’s participation in next year’s World Cup in England.

Another important decision likely to come up before the working committee will be the request by the Punjab Cricket Association and the Orissa Cricket Association to stage international tournaments as part of the two units’ golden jubilee celebrations. PCA is keen to stage a one-day international tournament in September-October next year, immediately after the Sahara Cup in Toronto while OCA has sought a fortnight in the BCCI calendar to stage a three-nation tournament during the 1998-99 season.
