
Pontoon bridge closed from June 20
The pontoon bridges at Sarai Kale Khan and Bhairon Marg will be closed from June 20, according to a statement from the Public Works Department executive engineer S.S. Bansal.
Train service cancelled
The 5610 Avadh Assam Express will not run from Delhi on June 15, 17, 19, 21 and 23 due to the cancellation of corresponding services of these trains from the North Frontier railway.
Members of the association of victims of CBSE are to stage a dharna in front of the CBSE office on Tuesday to protest against what they term arbitrary marking and bad evaluation of answer scripts. They have planned to go on an indefinite hunger strike if there is no positive response from the CBSE.

The members of the Air Force and Naval Cooperative Group Housing Society, Pappankala have demanded that the management committee come out with the inquiry committee report regarding steep hike in the price of the flat. The members of the cooperative say, they were all service officers and couldn8217;t afford such a steep rise in the price, which has been hiked to Rupees 8.22 lakhs. According to them they were promised a flat in 1995, but they haven8217;t been given the possession of the flat till now.

Neurosurgeon professor P.N. Tandon of AIIMS has been selected for the Gujar Mal Modi Science Award for 1998. This was announced by industrialist S.K. Modi, president of the governing body of the Modi Science Foundation.
Films, theatre workshop
A ten day workshop on films and theatre, organised by the Indian Film and Theatre Academy IFTA, was inaugurated at Saket on Sunday. IFTA founder-director Robin Batra said that the workshop is open to youngsters between 12-22 years. There will be a series of lecture demonstrations on acting, direction and stagecraft. Mayor to inspect MCD relief work
Mayor Yog Dhyan Ahuja will visit the Shakarpur JJ cluster to inspect the MCD relief work to the fire-affected families. He instructed the sanitation director that additional safai karamcharis be deployed in the area so that hygiene is maintained.
Cleanliness drive
Opposition leader in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Narender Nath, and the BJP councillor from Vishwas Nagar, Sarla Parihar, jointly visited Vishwakarma Nagar and adjoining areas on Saturday 8212; the last day of the cleanliness campaign launched by the Delhi Government. They heard residents8217; complaints, while as usual promising to sort out all the civic problems in the area.

Striking employees of the Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts resumed work, after they were assured that their demands would be settled within a week. The IGNCA employees8217; union had launched an agitation on May 22 to protest against the 8220;sexual harassment of women employees8221;.
13 power theft cases
Thirteen cases of theft and meter tampering have bee booked after Delhi Vidyut Board authorities and police personnel conducted raids in Mayapuri Phase-I, Jhandewalan, Karol Bagh, Nangloi and New Friend8217;s Colony. One instance of an illegal connection for small scale industries was detected, and a case has been booked against Victor Luggage Pvt Ltd.
Priority to link roads
Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma said on Saturday said that priority will be given to the construction of link roads that connect different villages to Delhi. The announcement was made while he inaugurated the construction work of a link road at Kadipur village in Alipur block. The seven-km road is expected to be completed in three months at an estimated cost of Rs 20 lakhs.
