NEW DELHI, January 21: The president of the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) has resigned from the primary membership of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and joined the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI).

“I have been opposed to the functioning of the ABVP for sometime now and was not satisfied with my role under them. I was very influenced by the issues that the Congress is fighting for and agree with their policies,” said Anil Jha.

He added that he was under pressure from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh-Bharatiya Janata Party, who gave him no freedom to do his job. He also clearly stated that he would not resign from the post of president. “I am now going to work on the lines of the Congress and will not, under any circumstances resign from my post. I have fought the elections for the ABVP and won it for them. They can’t just tell me to leave,” Jha clarified.

Apparently, influenced by the speeches of big politicians, Anil Jha made the switch in the presence of Sitaram Kesri, Tariq Anwar and Alka Kapoor, president of All India NSUI.
