Decks cleared for Sapre’s passport renewal, trip abroad

She filed an application after the RPO refused to extend the validity period of her passport to another five years. In her application Sapre said that she was issued a passport on May 17, 1988 and was renewed again after it expired on May 16, 1993. The passport after renewal was due to expire on May 16, 1998.

Sapre then applied for an additional booklet which was valid up to December 10, 1996. When she applied for an extension of the validity period, the RPO told her to seek the permission of the court since she had a case pending against her. The court granted her request and extended her validity period to December 24, 1997.

The application further states that Sapre had applied for extension of her validity period since she was to go abroad on December 17, 1997 for a professional work.

The magistrate in his order has also directed Sapre to attend the court as and when required.
