He, however, ruled out an early election in the state in the event of his replacement by the party leadership.

"Neither the Vidhan Sabha would be dissolved nor there would be a mid-term poll in the event of change of leadership in Uttar Pradesh," he asserted and said the present government would complete its full term.

"I do not think the dissolution of state Assembly is an option before the party’s central leadership," he said adding "I would abide by party’s every decision in this regard”.

The chief minister clarified that he was neither interested in joining the Union ministry nor would like to take up any party post at Central level but prefer to work in his state as an `ordinary worker’.

Singh warned the party high command against having any alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in the state. "If there is a move to have an alliance with the BSP, it would be suicidal and disastrous for the BJP," he said.

"We have already experimented it and you all know the results," he said.

Singh appreciated the efforts of party’s state unit chief Rajnath Singh in strengthening its hold to the grassroot level.

"As far as party’s debacle in the recent elections is concerned, I have already owned the moral responsibility for this and no one else should be blamed for this," he added.

Singh, however, rejected Congress leader Pramod Tewari’s demand for his resignation following BJP’s `poor performance’ in the state. Tewari should first ask for the resignation of Congress Chief ministers of Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan where Congress faced a debacle in the polls, he said.
