The Goa BJP today turned the heat on Governor SC Jamir and demanded his recall, following a report in Friday’s Indian Express.
Addressing reporters, BJP chief Rajendra Arlekar called upon Jamir to resign. ‘‘From the Indian Express report it was clear that Jamir was brought to Goa only to dislodge the Parrikar government’’ he said.
Former BJP Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar was even more vehement. ‘‘SC Jamir should be kicked out of Goa,’’ he said. Alleging that the governor had violated every norm during the June 3 election, Parrikar said: ‘‘Jamir instructed excise commissioners and collectors to harass opposition candidates even as agents of the Congress were let off scot free.’’
Meanwhile Jamir is unrepentant, sources say. ‘‘Jamir taught Parrikar a nice lesson while he was busy filing cases against our leaders and workers,’’ a Congress leader said.
