Day after, 13-yr-old drifts to safety

Meghana (13), daughter of a Met official had a miraculous escape from Car Nicobar, drifting in the water for more than 24 hours before Army personnel rescued her. Her parents and brother were not as lucky. She was flown to Hyderabad and was later sent to relatives in Hanamkonda. ‘‘My father, mother and brother were caught in the waves. I hope they are just as safe as I am,’’ is all she says, fighting back tears.
