PUNE, Dec 2: Three separate road mishaps today claimed three lives and injured nine. With these three incidents, the toll of road mishaps in the city since November 21 has reached 17.Two youths from Mumbai were killed on the spot when their Tata Sumo dashed against a stationary truck opposite the Pune Municipal Corporation's octroi post at Wakad on Dehu Road-Katraj bypass road this morning. Six passengers of the Tata Sumo suffered serious injuries in the mishap.The deceased include Shantaram Anant Khole (35) and Shiva Harishchandra Dirgole (45).Police said all the accident victims hail from Kandivali in Mumbai. They were returning home after attending the wedding of a friend at Atpadi in Satara district when the mishap took place.According to the police, the truck driver had gone to pay the octroi duty after parking his vehicle on the busy road when the Tata Sumo dashed against it. In Thergaon, two children were injured when a Maruti car dashed against the six-seater autorickshaw this morning.A separate mishap at Kalewadi earlier in the night, claimed the life of Jaysukhram Kriplani (20) of Pimpri. His pillion rider Sumit Ramesh Tejwani (22) of Pimpri was injured.Police said Kriplani and Tejwani were riding near a school on the road linking Kalewadi with Rahatani when their motorbike dashed against an electric pole along the road.
