July 21: A division bench of the Mumbai High Court comprising Justice A V Tipnis and Justice Arvind Palekar today adjourned the petition of Dada Samant, president of the Kamgar Aghadi up to July 28, in which he prayed that the investigation of the Datta Samant murder case should be handed over to The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The union leader was assasinated on January 16 this year.

The investigating officer of the case Tej Singh Roop Chand Chavan, attached to unit nine of the crime branch, state criminal investigation department (CID) informed the court that the city police was investigating the case and had already arrested nine persons in this connection, while seven were still wanted. Two of these are out of India, namely Chotta Rajan and Guru Satam.

He said the police has sent photographs of the wanted to various police stations in India, and claimed that the absconding accused would be nabbed soon.
