DARBHANGA, JULY 20: Clashes, skirmishes and demonstrations marked today's 12-hour ``Darbhanga bandh'' by BJP and Left parties to protest Saturday's police firing and stampede that claimed 24 Army aspirants near the airbase here, official sources said.The bandh supporters fought pitched battles with the police at several places while trying to enforce the bandh in the twin towns of Darbhanga and Laheriaserai, which wore a deserted look during the day, the sources said.A few policemen and bandh supporters received minor injuries in stone throwing by the latter as police chased away the protestors with lathis, the sources said.CPI-ML (L) activists indulged in skirmishes with police protesting against what they called ``unprovoked firing on unemployed youth'' at the airbase.Bandh supporters brought out processions in different parts of the towns shouting anti-administration slogans and staged dharnas.Three hundred people have been arrested so far from different places in the two towns, the sourcesadded.
