China has accused Tibetan religious leader Dalai Lama of fuelling unrest in Kathmandu through his ‘ringleaders by holding secret meetings with some organisations’.
Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Zheng Xianglin, said the India-based Tibetan government has sent one of its leaders to Kathmandu to lead and direct the protests.
“A leader sent by the Tibetan government in exile is currently in Kathmandu now, holding secret meetings with ringleaders of some organisations for Tibetan freedom and also plotting various anti-China activities,” the Chinese envoy was quoted as saying by the official news agency, the Rising Nepal.
Xianglin’s statement came at a time when there have been near daily protests against China by Tibetan exiles demanding a free Tibet.
China has strongly objected to the protests and asked the Nepal government to take strong action against the agitators.
The Communist country made its resentments known to Nepalese Communication Minister and Maoist leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara when he recently visited the country.
During his visit, Beijing has also extended an invitation to Maoist chief Prachanda for a China visit.
