IPCL employees withdraw call for week-long strike
Agitating employees of the Indian Petrochemicals Corporation Limited (IPCL) have withdrawn their call for a week-long strike from Monday with the authorities assuring to consider their demands. The employees, among other things, are demanding bonus. The negotiations between IPCL officials and employees were also mediated by State Congress president C D Patel and Congress Legislative Party president Amarsinh Chaudhary. According to a statement by the Petrochemicals Karmachari Union, the union has agreed to requests by the management and the Congress leaders. Meanwhile, the IPCL Employees’ union, too, has withdrawn its call, but added that it would give the management four days to decide on their demands.

Unique resolve to burn crackers
In an unusual gesture, residents of Amin Park and Parasnagar societies along the Vishwamitri have resolved to burst fire crackers during Diwali festival only between 8 and 10 pm. Janak Parikh, P V Babar, H C Kharadi, S K Parab, Hiren Patel and several others have said that they would burst fire crackers in such a way that it doesn’t harm or obstruct motorists.

Samajam holds condolence meet
The Baroda Malayalee Samajam has condoled the death of Shobhana Hari and A E Rocky (retired station master, Western Railway) in a meeting held here on Saturday. The condolence meeting was chaired by BMS chairman K V Johnson.
