RAJKOT: Shrimathi Lakshmiben J Sethia Charitable Trust and leprosy control officials have arranged a sneh milan at Lakshmiben Sethia Pathikashram near Jubilee Baug here tomorrow to distribute clothes and other daily use material among lepers. Right Reverend Father George will open the function with a prayer and BJP MP Vallabh Kathiria will preside over the funtion which will be inaugurated by Rajkot-3 MLA Madhubhai Bhabharia. D J Vachraj, medical superintendent of Civil Hospital, Dr. Mankad, D M Raiyani, professor in city medical college, and Gijubhai Bharad, educationist and social worker J V Sethia will the chief guests. The programme begins at 10.30 a.m. and will continue till 11.30 a.m.

Trip to Banglaore
Civic garden and zoo committee chairman and members are leaving for Bangalore to see the progress made by Bangalore City Corporation in maintaining gardens. Chairman Kiranben Thakker will lead the team which is expected to get more inputs from experts in Bangalore, says Thakker.

New temple
Swaminarayan temple on the Kalawad Road, being built by Bochanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Santha, opens on November 26. A three-day festival begins from November 25. The third day will be celebrated as the 78th birthday of Pramukh Swami Maharaj, the spiritual head of the organisation. Preparations are in full swing. The schedule was announced by Ishwarcharan Swami, the convener of the youth affairs of the organisation.

Burnt alive
AHMEDABD: Khatoonbibi Babubhai Shaikh, 50, a widow who lived in the slums behind the Maniar trailer factory in the Rakhial area, was set ablaze by her 13-year-old son Raju, daughter Razia, and son in-law Ilyas on Monday night.

She was admitted to the New Civil Hospital, where she died during treatment on Tuesday morning. Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased was engaged in the flesh trade to earn a living for herself, which the accused did not like. Bapunagar police has registered a case of murder.

Court order
Karanj police on Tuesday said they have been directed by the metropolitan magistrate court number 5 to produce Samad Dadhi alias Abdul Samad Abdul Vahab Shaikh before it. Samad who is presently absconding, faces charges of threatening to kill one Zarinakhan Pathan, who runs a travel agency at Pattharkuva on Relief Road. Khan, complained to the police that Samad had come to her office on Tuesday evening, placed a revolver at her temple to threaten her with dire conseqences if she did not stop filing complaints against him.
