Old woman knifed to death
NASHIK: Seventy-two-year-old woman Sumati Vamanrao Panse was murdered with knife by three persons in Hundiwala Lain area in the city on Saturday night, following money dealing dispute. Police source said Sumati Panse was living with her son and daughter-in-law. On Saturday night three persons entered in their house and threw chilly powder in the eyes of Sumati and killed her with pointed knife. Sumati’s son Javant complained in police station against Pappu alias Ravindra Patil and his two friend Ranjit Patil and Raju Dvargaonkar. No one was arrested in this connection.
Ex-chief of Nashik grapes body dead
NASHIK: Former Grapes Horticulture Federation (Nashik) president Vijayaraj Satejan Bramecha died on Sunday following a heart attack. He was 76. He is survived by wife, two sons and daughter. Bramecha was feliciated with `Krushi Bhushan Award’ by the Maharashtra Government in 1993. He was also officer-bearer of All India Jain Conference.
Nine hurt in Igatpuri poll skirmish
NASHIK: Nine persons were injured in a clash between two groups at Gonde village in Igatpuri taluka in this district on Saturday. According a report the clash started between two groups of Rajaram Dhongade, a sarpanch of Gonde Grampanchayat and Raju Nate vice president of Igatpuri taluka, Shiv Sena following an election fued. In the clash, nine persons from sides were injured.
They have admitted in Nashik civil hospital. Nobody has been this connection, the report added.
Stone for Bhadar project on the cards
RAJKOT: The foundation stone of Rs 73 crore Bhadar-II irrigation-cum-drinking water project will be laid by the Gujarat Chief Minister Shankarsinh Vaghela on August 30, official sources said on Sunday. About 24 villages around the project will have direct benefit while about a hundred villages on the down stream will get drinking water. The project, will also irrigate 9,495 hactares of land in the down stream after completion the sources added.
