Mumbai, Feb 25: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has put off the National selectors’ meeting to prune the World Cup probables list from February 27 to the first week of March.
“The meeting would be held tentatively in Mumbai on March three after the Indian team’s return from Colombo. The exact date would be finalised after consultation with team coach Anshuman Gaekwad,” BCCI secretary Jaywant Lele said from Baroda.
“We want the team coach, captain Mohammed Azharuddin, physio Andrew Kokinos and team doctor Ravinder Chadha to be present at the meeting, especially because of the fitness certificates provided by Ajit Agarkar and Vinod Kambli,” Lele said. He added the cup organisers England and Wales Board were responsive to the BCCI’s request to extend the February 28 deadline to submit 19 names, by a few days.
Lele also said Azhar has been named captain till the end of the ongoing Championship.
