Two CRPF officers in charge of force deployment for the Bihar elections have been caught out and removed just a day before the first phase of polls for holding a secret midnight meeting with Laloo Prasad Yadav.

The Home Ministry immediately removed A K Chibbar, IG CRPF, Bihar sector, and Alok Raj, DIG CRPF, Patna range, after the Election Commission made a complaint. The panel said the duo visited 1, Anne Marg, the official residence of former Chief Minister Rabri Devi, after midnight last night and met Laloo Prasad, the Rashtriya Janata Dal chief.

Poll panel advisor K J Rao said: ‘‘They (Chibbar and Raj) have been shifted because they held a secret meeting at someone’s house last night.’’ He would not say where the meeting took place, saying there was no need for it.
