Rabaris at it againVadodara Municipal Corporation security officer N K Parekh who had been assaulted by rabaris for impounding stray cattle from Baranpura on Monday morning was attacked again the same evening when he was returning home. According to police, Parekh was coming on a scooter towards Nyaya Mandir when some rabaris had arguments with him over impounding of stray cattle in Sultanpura and assaulted him with sticks. Parekh sustained injuries on his forehead and right cheek. The Raopura police have arrested Hemchand Gadge of Baranpura and Janaksinh Mahendrasinh Mahida of Patthergate in this connection.Couple beatenMadhuben Rathod and her husband Bhikhabhai Nathabhai Rathod, residents of Ambika Mill slums, sustained injuries in an alleged assault by their relatives on Sunday. According to the Channi police, the couple were discussing their daughter's marriage date, when their relatives - residing in the neighbourhood - asked them to postpone the date to suit their convenience. Arguments lead to heated exchanges and their relatives, in a fit of anger, picked up sticks and beat the couple. A case of rioting and assault against Arvindbhai Kanubhai, Shankarbhai Gurkho and Shardaben Shankarbhai Gurkho has been registered.Valuables stolenCash and ornaments worth Rs 1,23,750 were stolen from two houses in the last two days. While cash and ornaments amounting to Rs 26,500 were stolen from a house in Krishna Park society on Gotri Road under J P Road police station on Monday, cash and jewellery worth Rs 79,250 were stolen from a locked house in Manmohan society in Manjelpur area under Makarpura police station. While in the case of the first incident, burglars entered the house by removing steel grills of the window and broke open the steel cupboard with some instruments and decamped with the booty, in the second case they broke the lock on the main door to barge into the house.
