Bomb hoax in schoolThe Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Sector 20, was closed mid-way today following a bomb hoax. Sources said that an unidentified caller reported to the school authorities that a bomb had been planted in the school. While the students were given a day off, the anti-sabotage check and dog squads of the police searched the school premises in vain to discover that the call was a nasty joke, it was added.Travel agent bookedThe city police have registered a case of cheating against a travel agent of Mani Majra on the charges of cheating various people on the pretext of sending them abroad and defrauding them collectively to the tune of Rs 8 lakh. The case was registered on the basis of a complaint made by Ramesh Sood, a resident of Phase II, in S. A. S. Nagar. Sood reported to the police that Mohindervir Singh took money from him but neither did he send him abroad nor return the money. On receipt of similar complaints from a few others, the police have booked the said agent for breach of trust, cheating and under the Immigration Act, it was added.Man cheated of Rs 1.6 lakhJagdish Chand, a resident of Sector 44, reported to the police that he has been cheated to the tune of Rs 1.6 lakh by Jagjit Singh of Sector 37, in connection with the sale of a house in Sector 44-D. The area SHO, when contacted, said that Singh had allegedly accepted the money as advance for sale of the plot. However, at the time of signing the papers, he denied that he had accepted the money or claimed that he was the owner of the flat. The police have registered a case.
