The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) began probingmatch-fixing allegations in Indian cricket in May, a month after a worldwide scandal erupted following revelations about South African captain Hansie Cronje, who lost his job in the wake of the scandal.

The Indian probe was ordered after Delhi police in Aprilcharged four South African cricketers, including Cronje, with "cheating, fraud and criminal controversy" in connection with a one-day series held in March.

Cronje, who vehemently rejected the charges, later admittedtaking money from bookmakers in exchange for information.

He was banned from the game for life by the South Africancricket board last week.
