DHAKA, APRIL 5: Police on Wednesday fired tear gas and used batons to control berserk fans gathered to buy tickets for the Asia XI versus World XI match, witnesses said here.

Crowd dispersed after tear gas was fired by police but there were no reports of arrests or injuries.

The one-day match has aroused passionate enthusiasm in this cricket crazy nation.

Bangladeshi’s consider it to be a life-time opportunity to watch players such as Wasim Akram, Saurav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, Mark Waugh and Andy Flower play at the Bangabandhu National Stadium having capacity of 50,000 on April 8.

The International Cricket Council is organising the event as part of its Cricket Week celebration with the United Nations.
