AURANGABAD, December 27: The 16th State convention of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Friday resolved to address the growing forces of fundamentalism within the Muslim community which the party feels is as dangerous as Hindu fundamentalism.Prabhakar Sangzgiri, who was unanimously elected State unit general secretary, said his party felt it was high time that Muslims were freed from the tentacles of mullahs and maulavis. The convention also expressed concern over the dwindling number of Muslims amongst industrial workers and asked members to fight for the rights of Muslim women. In a significant move, politbureau member of the party, Sitaram Yechure, said the CPM would stay away from any coalition at the Centre which includes the Congress. However, the party has kept its options on joining a United Front government open, if the UF gets a majority. On the methods his party would deploy to fight Muslim fundamentalism, Sanzgiri said, ``a tit for tat method'' was a time-tested weapon against any sort of fundamentalism.y
