The CPI(M) today raised the decibel level over the Centaur hotel deal, saying it will launch a more vigorous campaign from tomorrow if the government did not begin a CBI probe.
Leader of the party in the Rajya Sabha Nilotpal Basu said, ‘‘We shall pursue our demand more strongly and more vigorously if the government failed to take a positive decision on the probe by tomorrow.’’
Addressing reporters, Left MPs Nilotpal Basu, Basudeb Achariya and Rupchand Pal said, ‘‘Finance Minister P. Chidambaram had told the Lok Sabha that the government would await the CAG report. Now that the report has arrived, we want no further delay in instituting the probe.’’
The CPI(M) said the offender in this case will have to be ‘‘punished’’ and the entire deal nullified.
