VADODARA, Aug 12: The State unit of the Communist Party of India (CPI) has resolved to start an intensified agitation from September 22 against the alleged failure of Bharatiya Janata Party government at Centre and in State. The agitation will culminate with Statewide demonstrations on October 2.

Addressing reporters on Tuesday, CPI central council secretary Shamim Faizi said that this was one of the three resolution, the leaders from different parts of the State had passed following the three-day 17th State-level convention here.

According to him, the other two resolutions included revitalising the organisation and its activities and focussing on the inclusion of farmers, youths and women for the same.

Expressing his regrets over CPI’s comparatively poor performance in several states including Gujarat, Faizi reiterated that it would be improved.

Besides Faizi, Chintamani Panjankar, A N Sheikh, Rakumar Singh, Ashok Kahar V B Chavda, G S Pillai, Ramsagar Parihar, Girijashankar Pande, Pushpa Patel and Kamla Bhaiya were among the main speakers at the convention.
