NEW DELHI, MARCH 13: CPI(M) today said it would "not cooperate" with the Commission set up to review the Constitution and asked all "secular and democratic" forces to foil moves of the RSS to foist its agenda on the people in the name of the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) agenda.

"Even though the NDA programme is maintained as a facade, the issues which have come to the fore in the past five months show that a parallel agenda (of RSS) is at work," CPI(M) General Secretary Harkisan Singh Surjeet told reporters here.

Stating that the "blatant move (by Gujarat government) to legitimise the communalisation of administration" had been thwarted now by the combined strength of secular opposition including NDA partners, he said it was clear that "in practice all encouragement will be given for RSS penetration", mainly in the fields of education, culture and society in general.

Reiterating the demand for removal of Bihar Governor V C Pande for his "partisan" role, he said BJP and its "opportunist" allies had suffered a setback and were thoroughly exposed following the resignation of chief minister Nitish Kumar even before the confidence vote.

The CPI(M) also supported the May 11 nationwide strike call given by the National Platform of Mass Organisations to protest the policies of liberalisation and privatisation.

On US President Bill Clinton’s proposed visit to India, Surjeet announced that demonstrations and other forms of protest actions would be organised throughout the country on March 21 to protest US "imperialism".
