Delhi Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan has been acquitted by Metropolitan Magistrate (MM) Kanwaljeet Arora in a case accusing him of causing the death of a 14-year-old boy due to negligence.

The FIR stated that Rahul was taken to Harsh Vardhan’s clinic in Krishna Nagar on March 7, 1991, after he complained of a throat ache. The boy was operated upon a day later on the advise of the minister, who is an E&T specialist. Harsh Vardhan also prescribed a week’s medicines for the boy.

When Rahul continued to complain of a throat ache, his parents took him back to Harsh Vardhan. Another operation was performed on March 16, 1991. On returning, he apparently told Rahul’s parents that the child was suffering from another disease. The boy’s parents then called their family doctor, who told them that Rahul was already dead.
