The Jamtara court today sought an explanation from the district administration on why it wants former Coal minister Shibu Soren shifted to the Lok Nayak Jay Prakash Narain jail in Hazaribagh. Soren, accused in the 29-year-old Chirrudih massacre case, is currently lodged at a ‘‘temporary camp jail’’ set up at the Jamtara Women’s College.
The court posted the case for hearing tomorrow after the prosecution sought a day’s time for an argument before the district and sessions court today.
Public Prosecutor A.K. Mahato filed a petition in the Jamtara court last evening, seeking the shifting of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha chief from the camp jail.
The deputy collector had issued the notification to turn the college premises as the temporary jail four days ago.
