Couple ‘lynched’ to death in UP

A couple from the minority community was allegedly lynched to death in Bulandshahar after they were found together and their killings announced on the village mosque loudspeaker by the girl’s family.

The two, who belonged to the same caste, were allegedly caught together in a field at midnight by the girl’s family. They were later dragged to the girl’s house and clubbed to death, sources said.

The girl’s uncle, Momin Khan Chauhan, said: ‘‘Even the villagers joined in, saying, ‘maaro, maaro’. “Those who break away from tradition should be punished,’’ he said.
