India Inc is happy over the clear mandate with which the new governments will assume office in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi and Chhattisgarh as it will enable them to take forward the economic reforms process in these States for which there is a political consensus on.

With the Bharatiya Janata Party romping home with a clear majority in three States except Delhi, the industry feels that the BJP-led Central government will be more receptive to the needs and demands of financial assistance and on policy front in Rajasthan, MP and Chhattisgarh.

Confederation of Indian Industry deputy director-general N. S. Srinivasan said, “the mandate in all the four States is clear and decisive. We see this as a good opportunity for these States to move forward with reforms, growth and employment generation.”

Assocham spokesperson said, “we are happy because this was one election which was fought over economic issues. This sends strong signals to political parties not to ignore them. They are now reminded that voters are increasingly placing importance to and becoming conscious of economic issues.”

Indian Merchants Chamber president Shailesh Haribhakti said, “The trend from what we can see in the poll results is very positive for the industry and the markets. It will make a huge difference with sustainability of growth.”
