MUMBAI, JUNE 26: Crime branch sleuths today laid a trap and nabbed six members of the Chhota Rajan gang planning to rob a jewellery shop at Mazgaon. The arrests have led to the detection of seven murder cases in which the Malaysia-based don’s gang was involved.

The nabbed gangsters were identified as Baba Reddy, Santosh Singh alias Bablu, Nitin Sawant, Vijay Kedari alias Chikna, Sudhir Keer and Shashank Bhirwandkar. Reddy and Vijay are the main shooters, while others are “fielders” and accomplices in murder. Additional commissioner of police (crime), Y C Pawar, said the crime branch has detected seven cases of murders, two of attempt to murder and three of extortion due to the arrests.

Prominent among the detected murders are that of Shiv Sainik Manohar Jingare at Kala Chowkie, Scandal Shoes owner Haji Kapadia at Khar, ward-boy of Wadia Hospital Ashok Pardesi, Parshuram alias Chanya Raju, Bhushan Patil, a schoolboy from Thane, and builder Azmat Patel of Kashimira district, Thane.
