Cops found with hawala stash

Police have recovered Rs 23 lakh of the Rs 25 lakh suspected hawala money which was stolen from a Bharuch police station recently. The cops seized Rs 20 lakh from the possession of a Jhalod resident. Another Rs 3 lakh was recovered from Bharuch following a search and interrogation of the arrested policemen. Special IGP (Vadodara Range) Rakesh Asthana said: ‘‘The money had originally been confiscated from a Bharuch resident on July 12. It was to be presented in court on July 25. But a night before this, it got stolen.’’
