PATNA, DEC 8: The officer in-charge of Gourichak police station of Patna district has been suspended for assaulting a child who worked as domestic help for him, officials said today.
Shyam Kishore Yadav has been suspended after a departmental inquiry found him guilty of assaulting nine-year-old Kishan, who had fled the cop’s house some time ago after prolonged torture by him and his family, Senior Superintendent of Police Sunil Kumar said.
Kishan, who was working at a tea stall in the Capital’s Dakbungalow roundabout after gaining his freedom, was spotted by Yadav on Monday.
The cop kicked and assaulted the young boy in full public view despite protests by the locals, he said.
The policeman was suspended after the case was taken up by Bachpan Bachao Andolan, an NGO working for the rights of the children, who held a dharna and took out a protest march to demand action against the errant policeman, he added.
