DSP Amin says conspiracy being hatched with help of jail authorities
Former Deputy Superintendent of Police N K Amin, imprisoned in the Sabarmati jail for his alleged involvement in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case, has alleged that a conspiracy is being hatched to eliminate him through senior jail authorities.
The allegations were levelled in an affidavit submitted to Additional Principal Sessions Judge P B Desai by Amin’s advocate V D Gajjar on Wednesday. The hearing on the affidavit will be held on Friday.
In the affidavit, Amin has claimed possesssion of CDs containing information about the encounter case which will open up a Pandora’s Box and creating problems for several ruling party leaders, including a minister in the Narendra Modi government. It is because of this, he is being tortured by the jail authorities, the affidavit says.
Expressing apprehension that he might be killed in a fake encounter, Amin has accused Inspector General of Prisons Keshav Kumar of having instructed jail staff to torture him.
He alleged that he was recently assaulted by the jail staff in which one of his fingers was fractured. He also has some infections in his urinary tract, but was not given access to treatment. He further alleged that at the instructions of Kumar, the jail authorities did not allow him to file a criminal case against the latter.
Amin, reported to be enjoying the proximity of ruling party leaders before his arrest, is accused of helping suspended DIG D G Vanzara in disposing the body of Kausar Bi, wife of Sohrabuddin, who was killed in a ‘fake encounter’ on the outskirts of Ahmedabad in November 2005.
Kausar Bi, according to investigations conducted by senior IPS officer Geetha Johri on the Supreme Court’s orders, was reportedly raped before being killed. She was killed because she was one of the witnesses in the Sohrabuddin case. Another witness, Tulsiram Prajapati, was subsequently murdered in December 2007 to wipe out all evidences in the case. A total of 14 policemen, including three IPS officers Vanzara and Rajkumar Pandian, both of Gujarat Police, and Dinesh MN of Rajasthan Police, are currently in jail. `
