Kolkata police authorities have warned personnel of 2nd battalion, who are agitating against a constable’s death, of disciplinary action.

The colleagues of Rajendra Singh Rana allege he died for want of better medical care. On Sunday, about 150 policemen of the 2nd battalion at Cossipore, to which Rana belonged, blocked the traffic on BT road for three hours, complaining that Rana died for want of better medical care.

Armed Police Joint Commissioner R.K. Kanojia said: ‘‘As far as my information goes there was no blockade of road nor was there any ransacking. The DC will investigate whether the cops flouted rules. I will take appropriate action after the report.’’
