The Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee on Saturday expelled a record number of 30 senior leaders for contesting against official nominees for the Oct 13 polls.
Prominent among those expelled include leader from north Maharashtra P.K. Anna Patil, a five-term legislator Madhukar Kimmatkar from Ramtek, Satyajeet Deshmukh, son of Legislative Council Chairman Shivajirao Deshmukh, Madan Bhosle, son of former MPCC president Prataprao Bhosle and Harbans Singh, a trusted aide of Minister of State for Home Kripa Shankar Singh. AICC general secretary Margaret Alva said the party had expelled these rebels for six years.
