KHED, March 3: Spurning the Shiv Sena in a big way, the Khed Parliamentary constituency ensured a massive victory to Congress candidate Ashok Mohol. Shiv Sena’s Nana Balkawde lost the contest here by a margin of 1,01,430 votes.

At the end of the final eighth round, Mohol had secured 3,49,470 votes as against 2,48,040 polled by Balkawde.

Reacting to the victory trends for the Congress in the State, Mohol told The Indian Express, "The trends are a clear indication of how much the people are fed up with the Sena-BJP rule. Sabir Shaikh (Minister of State for Labour in the Manohar Joshi government) rightly said that it was time for him to resign from the State Cabinet). And all this is because of the charismatic Sonia Gandhi and Sharad Pawar."
