Cong warns Centre on NSCN designs

Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday warned the Government against ignoring the ‘‘sinister designs’’ of the NSCN (I-M) leaders who are negotiating with the Centre for ending insurgency in Nagaland. Mukherjee said in the Rajya Sabha that reports about NSCN (I-M) running a parallel government were disturbing.

‘‘Recently the organisation announced a Rs 18 crore budget and also made public huge remunerations for its cadres and it is a shocking trend,’’ he said. Mukherjee said while the Government needs to talk to these rebels, at the same time, a check should be kept on their activities.
