The Congress on Friday said it would lodge a complaint with the EC against Uma Bharati for concealing the Hubli case in the affidavit submitted with her nomination papers for the Assembly polls. Party spokesman Abhishekh Singhvi also showed reporters the copies of the affidavit given by Bharati.
Case returns to JMFC court
HUBLI: The Uma Bharati case is back in the JMFC (II) Court in Hubli with the District and Sessions Court on Friday disposing of the prosecution’s revision petition, seeking more time to file its written arguments. First Additional District and Sessions Judge Michael John D’Kunha directed Assistant Public Prosecutor Nagendrappa to file his written arguments on Saturday.
Sadhus take out yatra in protest
Ayodhya: Saints and religious leaders here on Friday took out a yatra to Karnataka in protest against the arrest of former Madhya Pradesh CM Uma Bharati. The Rashtriya Dhwaj Samman Yatra of about five dozen saints of various temples and akharas led by former Uttar Pradesh BJP president Vinay Katiyar left for Lucknow from where they will proceed for Bangalore by train, VHP media in-charge Sharad Sharma said here. On reaching Lucknow, Katiyar said the saints have been forced to take out the march in protest against the humiliation to Bharati. He lashed out at the Congress and its president Sonia Gandhi for the action against Bharati.
BJP to take legal action against KPCC
NEW DELHI: The BJP on Friday decided to take legal action against Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee for issuing an advertisement against former MP chief minister Uma Bharati. The decision was taken at a meeting of BJP office-bearers here, party spokesman Arun Jaitley said. —(PTI & ENS)
