The Congress today threatened to launch agitation against the arrest of Adhir Choudhury. Condemning the police action, Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Priya Ranjan Das Munshi said the Congress will play up the issue in its campaign for the coming Assembly elections.
Accusing the state government of falsely implicating the MP, he said: ‘‘This is a politically motivated move. The Congress will not remain a mute spectator and will fight back with all its strength’’.
The Congress has decided to gherao the Writers’ Buildings against Choudhury’s arrest. ‘‘The gherao will be organised at a scale that no one has seen before,’’ he said, adding that the date for this will be announced after a party meeting on November 27.
The party has announced a protest rally at Shahid Minar on December 3, where senior party leaders will address the gathering.
