The BJP today accused the Congress of trying to forge an alliance with ‘‘pseudo-secular’’ parties to cover up the ‘‘declining performance’’ of its own governments.BJP general secretary Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, in a statement, said Congress had been saying it would form a government at the Centre. However, ‘‘after having realised its weakness and the declining performance of Congress-ruled states, an ideologically bankrupt and power-hungry Congress is looking for partners to help it out.’’ Taking up the Congress-ruled states one by one, Naqvi pointed out that in MP, Chief Minister Digvijay Singh, instead of concentrating on development, is busy with the ‘‘politics of Kumbh Melas and cultural terrorism.’’ He said Chhattisgarh CM Ajit Jogi stands out for controversies rather than for his state’s development. The Congress-NCP alliance in Maharashtra, the BJP leader claimed, has set a record for its total failure on the law and order front, appearing helpless before criminals. The Sheila Dikshit government in Delhi is desperate to claim credit for introducing the metro rail, he said. Meanwhile, the Congress-PDP government in J-K is ‘‘succumbing to anti-national elements’’, he alleged.
