BHUBANESWAR, FEBRUARY 20: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday held the Congress Government responsible for mishandling the post-cyclone situation in Orissa.Addressing newsmen here after completing his second and final round of election campaign for the Assembly poll in the state, he said people of Orissa have already decided to throw away the Congress Government from power. He said the mood of the electorates is to elect a BJP-BJD alliance government and predicted a clean sweep in favour of the coalition. ``The party (Congress) thought by changing chief ministers, people will forget all its misdeeds during the last five years,'' said Naidu, adding, the decision of Congress to change the chief minister during the cyclone relief operation was not correct. He hoped the BJP-BJD combine after being voted to power would work towards reconstruction in the cyclone-affected areas. The TDP chief said the cyclone assistance provided by Andhra Pradesh to Orissa was a gesture from a neighbouring state. ``There is no politics behind this. I did not expect anything in return. It was just a gesture,'' Naidu added. He advised politicians to concentrate more on development than politics. ``We should discuss politics only during elections. Development should be our priority in the rest of the period. People are sick of politics'', said Naidu. He said if politicians work sincerely, people would like them.To a question, the TDP leader said he was opposed to participation of government employees in Rastriya Swamsevak Sangh (RSS). He maintained that the employees should work for the people with devotion and their participation in organisations like RSS would affect developmental works. The TDP chief said he would oppose any tax on big farmers in the coming budget to be presented by the Union Finance Minister this month. He said tax on agriculture was not correct and hoped that it would be a pro-poor budget. On creation of smaller states, Naidu said he was opposed to the idea. He maintained that the world has become a global village with the advancement of information technology. ``All these are being raised only to take political mileage. We are spending huge amount of public money on administration. Time has changed and we can bring everything under one administration and control it from any part of the world,'' said Naidu.Asked to comment on NDA's bid to review the Constitution, Naidu said there was nothing wrong in it. He said the Constitution has to be amended to suit the common man. Naidu, however, opposed imposition of Article 356 on any State by the Centre. He said, in extra-ordinary situation, the matter should be discussed in the Parliament. On reforms in the Centre-State relations, Naidu said they must be carried out in the fields like judiciary, finance and legislature. The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister said he and the next Chief Minister of Orissa would work together to bring all round development in the region.
