BHOPAL, OCT 19: Senior leaders of the ruling Congress and the opposition BJP in Madhya Pradesh on Friday expressed their commitment to the formation of the new state of Chhattisgarh on November 1.
Talking to reporters on Friday before the beginining of the winter session of the assembly Chief Minister Digvijay Singh, State Congress President Radha Kishan Malviya, State BJP President Vikram Verma and leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Dr G S Shejwar said both the parties agree that the new state should come into existence on November 1.
This joint statement by four leaders ends all speculations that formation of Chhattisgarh state could be delayed.
Answering questions, the Chief Minister said the Centre has so far not given any funds for constructing the capital of the proposed state.
“All the fund spent for the capital of Chhattisgarh state has been given by Madhya Pradesh Government”, Singh said.
Former CPI (M) MLA, Ram Lakhan Sharma, who was also present said the centre has not given funds for the capital of Chhattisgarh as it was not interested in the formation of the new state.
Asked about the posting of IAS officers in the new state, he said that talks were going on in this regard with the centre and expressed the hope that a final solution would be arrived at before November 1.
IMA to host 8th management film festival
The Indore Management Association (IMA) will host the eighth International Management Film Festival in Indore from October 22. The eight management films produced by Harvard Business School, American Management Association and other international institutions would be premiered during the festival, IMA general manager Axay Dube said on Friday. The festival whose theme was “evolving leadership in the next millennium” is jointly organised by IMA and Centre for Change Management, Mumbai.
