With the role of some serving army officers under scanner in connection with Malegaon blast, Congress on Friday accused Sangh Parivar outfits of infiltrating established secular institutions.

“We are proud of the army but ashamed of the acts of those who seek to influence, infiltrate and convert established secular institutions which are pillars of our country and foundation, for divisive agenda,” party spokesman Abhishek Singhvi said.

The spokesman shot a series of questions for BJP and sought to know whether it has tried to saffronise the key foundations and institutions of the government in the past.

“Has the BJP tried to implement a particular excluvist ideology through the use or misuse of ministries like the HRD or institutions like the NCERT?” Singhvi said.

His next question pertained to a coaching institute for civil service aspirants allegedly run by RSS. “Has BJP established institutions like Sankalp which are finishing schools for civil servants but with a pre-disposed mind and ideology?” he said.

The spokesman also wanted to know whether Major Ramesh S Upadhyaya, arrested in connection with Malegaon blasts, was an integral part of the ex-servicemen cell of BJP.

Singhvi accused BJP of trying to infiltrate with their “hate filled” agenda the institutions which are the backbone of Indian democracy.

Praising the army, he said “persons like Lt Col S P Purohit and Major Upadhyaya are rare aberrations”.

Claiming that these acts are “grave threat” to Indian democracy, he asked BJP to come clean on disguises and proxy vehicles which they have used for saffronisation.
