Conductor kills wife for refusing sex

MUMBAI, Aug 2: The Gamdevi police arrested a BEST conductor on charges of murdering his wife after she refused to have sex with him on Saturday morning.

The incident took place at around 8.30 am when Sahebrao Pandurang Gaikwad (42) wanted to have sex with his wife Sangita. However, when she refused, he struck her on the head with an iron pipe. Neighbours rushed Sangita to Nair Hospital, but she was declared dead before admission. The police have charged Gaikwad with murder. Gaikwad, a resident of Abhyankar Building on Nauraz Balsara, was attached to the BEST Depot at Mumbai Central. The couple had been living in the building for the past 17 years. Gaikwad was produced before the Holiday Magistrate, Esplanade Court, where he was given custody till August 11.
