The man who cracked his whip on the bad guys in the cooperative sector is finally out of the post of Cooperation commissioner. Bowing to pressure from Sharad Pawar’s NCP, Chief Minister Sushilkumar Shinde today transferred Ratnakar Gaikwad out of the Cooperation Department, replacing him with Umeshchandra Sarangi.
The first to put pressure was Food and Civil Supplies Minister Suresh Jain as the bureaucrat had initiated stringent action against Jalgaon District Central Cooperative Bank for several irregularities in its functioning. The bank was headed by Jain.
As per directives of the RBI, Gaikwad dissolved the elected board of directors and appointed an administrator for the bank.
