After being in coma for over a year, comatose National Security Guard Surjan Singh Bhandari will be finally shifted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on Saturday evening. The Black Cat commando had received the Kirti Chakra for his valiant role in countering the Akshardham temple terrorist attack.Confirming the order, medical superintendent of Ahmedabad Civil Hospital Dr Anil Chadha said he received a call from senior NSG officials on Friday. ‘‘We are ready to move him on Saturday,’’ said Dr Chadha, adding that a senior NSG official will escort him to Delhi along with a medical team comprising anaesthetist Dr Makwana, neurologist Dr Tejas Patel and male nurse P.P. Barot.Surjan’s elder brother Uttam Singh Bhandari said: ‘‘Minister Harin Pathak had assured Surjan will be shifted to Delhi. Since then there hasn’t been a day that I have not enquired about the status of Surjan’s transfer.’’Surjan, serving as a commando with the 51 NSG, was in the team that was air-dashed to Gandhinagar on September 24 last year after the attack on the Akshardham temple.
