January 20: The cold spell which hung over Mumbai since late last week began lifting today, and temperatures are expected to completely stabilise during the next two days.
“Temperatures rose by 2 to 3 degrees today and this trend will continue tomorrow,” said Dr B Shyamala, director of Colaba Weather Bureau. She attributed the increase to blowing of the warmer east wind. Minimum temperatures during the cold spell plunged to four degrees below normal as a result of cold winds blowing from parts of northern India. While the minimum temperature in Santacruz was around 13 degrees, Colaba recorded a minimum temperature of 16 degrees.
