MUMBAI, JAN 29: The State Government would soon come out with a code of conduct for persons employing domestic workers in the State, Minister for Labour Husain Dalwai said here on Saturday.

Addressing a press conference at Mantralaya, the Minister said the code would stipulate that the domestic workers should be given 15 days paid leave in a year and also travelling expenses to visit their native places.

The workers should also be given medical expenses and a month’s salary as bonus, Dalwai said. Domestic workers should be given weekly offs and if that was not possible, they should be given a day’s extra wages, he said.

These proposals were mooted following submission of the report of a committee appointed by the State Government to consider the living conditions of the domestic workers, he said. The 40-day-old workers strike in the Parle Products Company in Vile Parle here had been successfully resolved and 600 workers resumed duty today, he said.

Painting Competition: An `on the spot’painting competition is being organised at Mira Road on Sunday for children in nursery to tenth standard. The idea behind this event is to stimulate artistic talent among the students and to encourage interaction among them. The program will be held at Shanti Nagar High School, Sector 2, Mira Road.
