AMRITSAR, JAN 31: Partap Singh Bajwa, former minister and general secretary of Punjab Pardesh Congress Committee (PPCC) today warned the people of Punjab against the designs of the state government which, he alleged, had started pursuing the agenda of fundamentalist forces.Bajwa drew attention towards Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal's step to appease the radical groups to play out Tohra at the party platform. He said Badal had yesterday shared dias with radical groups in Amritsar, alarming all secular forces. He feared that law and order would be the next causality in the state. He said whenever the Akali Dal leadership faced internal party crisis and had fallen weak, fundamentalists had tried to dominate the scene. He asked Badal to clarify his position immediately.Bajwa also asked the Punjab BJP to clarify its stand on Badal's increasing proximity with the radical groups. He said BJP in the Centre had been playing the same politics and inciting Shiv Sena, Bajrang Dal and VHP to terrorise the minorities in India and said Badal had now opened an extension counter of BJP government in Punjab.Bajwa said Punjab was already passing through a phase of bankruptcy. People were fed up with policies of the state government, he said. In such a situation, the Badal government would become more vulnerable to undamentalist forces. He asked Badal to think about the larger interests of the state and not let peace become a causality.
