JAMNAGAR, Jan 17: Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel and state BJP president Rajendrasinh Rana sang different tunes on the proposed expansion of the State ministry here on Sunday.
While Patel ruled out any expansion of his cabinet during casual conversations with journalists at the end of the party’s executive meet, Rana hinted there was an expansion and also reshuffle of portfolios of ministers in the offing.
Even as Patel maintained that there was no proposal to this effect, Rana told Express Newsline that the exercise would be carried out soon. “Right now we are reviewing the performance of each minister. After we have assessed them, the needful will be done”, he said in answer to a question.
Rana, who in his inaugural address on Saturday, had stressed the need of taking the party organisations into confidence by the leaders in the government, clarified that he wanted to develop a system by which periodic meetings could take place between two wings. “We have just made the beginning and we would like to carry it forward”, he remarked.
