Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, who has almost recovered from injuries sustained during the attempt on his life, will be attending office from October 6. ‘‘The Chief Minister is responding well to treatment and is advised total rest for two more days,’’ Health Minister Dr K. Sivaprasada Rao said today. ‘‘Naidu has fully overcome the shock of the blast,’’ he added. Andhra Pradesh sets up inquiry commission HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh government on Friday appointed a high-level inquiry Commission to probe the assassination attempt on CM N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday. The Commission, headed by retired DGP of Uttar Pradesh Prakash Singh, would study the security system and probe lapses leading to the landmine blast, Home Minister T. Devender Goud said. It would also pinpoint the personnel responsible and suggest measures to prevent recurrence of such incidents, he added. The Centre is also contemplating the creation of a national-level agency to oversee VIP security in the country, Goud said. Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani had indicated this during his meeting here with Naidu, he added. (PTI) Doctors led by Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences director Dr Kakarla Subba Rao attending on Naidu, were hopeful of his getting back to work by Monday as the CM was responding to treatment, Dr Rao said. ‘‘However, there are some small splinters beneath the skin at chest, shoulder and hands, but now we are not touching them,’’ he said. A special unit, consisting of a doctor and a nurse from NIMS has been kept at Naidu’s Jubilee Hills residence and they will be monitoring his health for two days. Employment Generation Minister B. Gopalkrishna Reddy is also responding well to treatment, Dr Rao said. In TDP MLA Chadalavadi Krishna Murthy’s case, doctors opine that there is no need for any surgical intervention, he said. The condition of MLA R. Rajsekhar Reddy, who is still in Tirupati, is critical. Doctors from National Institute of Mental Health and Neurological Sciences, Bangalore, is in Tirupati and studying whether he should undergo any operation for the blood clot in his brain, Dr Rao said.
